Award Winning Luxury Holiday Park in Cornwall Opens Activity Centre

Hendra Holiday Park, a long-standing favourite among holidaymakers in Cornwall, has announced an exciting new addition to its award-winning site. In spring 2026, the park will open the doors to the Newquay Rocks Family Activity Centre: a state-of-the-art, year-round facility designed to benefit both guests and the local community.

This multi-million-pound development will include a family climbing wall, soft play area, gym, and a multi-use community event space. Located within the grounds of Hendra Holiday Park near Newquay, the centre aims to bring high-quality indoor leisure to the region while creating a hub for family fun and community connection.

Supporting Growth and Local Community

Partially funded by the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund, the Newquay Rocks project is more than just a tourist attraction. Hendra is developing the facility as part of a broader strategy to extend its trading season, diversify its income, and support local job creation.

The site will also benefit from essential infrastructure upgrades, including enhanced parking, improved lighting, and strengthened site security. These enhancements will allow Hendra’s core attractions - such as the popular Oasis Fun Pool - to remain open beyond the usual holiday season, offering greater flexibility for both visitors and locals.

A New Home for Scouts Cornwall

One of the most meaningful aspects of the development is its partnership with Scouts Cornwall, who will use the new space as a community hub.

James McIntyre, Lead Volunteer of Scouts Cornwall, shared:
“Scouts Cornwall are so happy to be working with Hendra Holiday Park on this new, exciting development. We are hopeful that with the creation of this new space, and the recruitment of new adult volunteers, we will be able to start a 3rd Scout Group in the wider Newquay area when the building project is complete in spring 2026. We would like to thank Hendra for their ongoing community support and for giving us this potential opportunity.”

Sustainable Tourism, All Year Round

Will Dexter, Group Finance Director at Hendra Holiday Park, highlighted the positive economic and environmental impact of the centre:
“The project is set to create new full-time jobs, upskill staff, and boost the local economy by up to £5 million annually. By extending the trading season, it will address employment and visitor fluctuations while maintaining a sustainable approach.”

He added that the centre will be built using low-carbon design principles, supporting responsible long-term growth without placing additional pressure on the region’s peak summer infrastructure.

“Crucially, the project helps reduce seasonal dependency and pressure on summer tourism without increasing peak visitor numbers. It offers attractive off-peak activities and provides the local community with year-round access to affordable, safe leisure options. Facilities will support youth groups—including a new Scout group—and host family-friendly activities in a multi-use venue.”
