The best Autumn UK destinations

Autumn in the UK is beautiful. The orange and red colours bloom throughout the parks and fields and the fresh air and early morning sunshine provide the perfect conditions to go and explore your surroundings. Here are some of the best places to visit...

Snowdonia, North Wales

Snowdonia National Park in North Wales is a truly stunning place. The mountainous landscapes are perfect for early morning hikes; you can climb Snowdon Summit to reach the highest point in the park. From the top, you can get amazing panoramic views of the whole area. Nearby towns like Betws-y-Coed and Caernarfon are home to charming shops, cafes and pubs that are great for a post-hike pint.

Westonbirt, The Cotswolds

Located near Gloucestershire in the Costwolds, the Westonbirt Arboretum has over 15,000 types of trees, and when Autumnal shades of red and orange emerge on their leaves, it is truly a sight to behold. You can pick up seasonal leaflets with guides of the different kinds of trees you can find throughout the park at the visitor's centre.

The Cotswolds has many amazing places to stay. See them all here.

Whitby & Scarborough, North Yorkshire

The coastal seaside town of Whitby in North Yorkshire looks great all your round, but in Autumn the Gothic Whitby Abbey is lit up to for Halloween to create an amazingly spooky atmosphere. Along with Whitby, Scarborough is also a great place to see at this time of the year. You can enjoy strolls along the beach, explore Scarborough Castle, or head to the nearby Dalby Forest to see the trees in their Autumnal splendour.

Lake District National Park

The Lake District national park is home to some of the best walks you can find in the country, along with some of the highest mountains. If you aren't a serious hiker but appreciate amazing scenery nonetheless, head to Keswick, the regions biggest town. Afterwards, walk down to Hope Park which leads down to Derwent Water, a beautiful lake surrounded by woodland you can walk the perimeter of without having to do any serious climbing!
